Instructions for Using the TCC Online Application for Admission

  • Please read the instructions below before going to the online application.
  • You must use Internet Explorer 5.5 or later to access the online Application for Admission. If you do not have the version you need, use the link below to download the free software:
Internet Explorer - Download
  • Generally, follow the directions that appear on the application pages themselves.
  • When your application is successfully processed, a notification page will appear.
  • PRINT the notification page which will contain your student EMPL ID number and password, information you need to access services at the college.
  • Some special information follows :
Please do not use all capital letters. When entering information, please capitalize only the first letter of each word.
When asked to enter dates, you must enter the full four-digit year (i.e. 1999).
The drop-down menus contain lengthy lists from which to make a selection. To review and select the items in the drop-down menus continue to press the first letter of the city, state, country, high school or college until the desired selection appears in each category.
In item 22 of the application form, if you graduated from a high school outside of Virginia, please select the state for your high school (i.e. North Carolina - Unknown) or Non-US High School if your diploma was issued outside the United States. For GED, please select the state where your GED was issued (i.e. Maryland – GED).
You will be asked to select a plan of study as part of the application form. Before you begin entry on the application form, you may want to review TCC’s curriculum options. Program information is available on this TCC website: The plan names in the drop-down list are abbreviated versions of the curriculum names that appear on the TCC website. If you are not sure which plan to select, contact the TCC Information Center:
When selecting a plan from the list, please choose one that does not have a “{“ (bracket) symbol. These plans are inactive for new students. If you are unsure about your selection, review the active plans on this website:
“CSP” in the plan title denotes a Career Studies Program. Not all Career Studies Programs will qualify you for financial aid. Please see a campus financial aid advisor for more information.
When you have completed entry of all the required application information, you will be given an option to print the application form. It is strongly recommended that you print and keep a copy of the application form for your records.
If under 18 years of age, please note:
Your parent or legal guardian will need to respond to information on this application to determine your eligibility for in-state tuition. Please review those questions with your parent or legal guardian and note the responses they provide to you on the web application.
A parent or legal guardian’s signature is required on your application form if you are under 18 years of age. Please print the application, have your parent or legal guardian sign the form and submit the signed form to your campus admissions office. Failure to comply with the signature requirement will delay your access to enrollment in the college.
