Financial Aid Payment and Refund Policy

Form and Frequency of Payments
  1. Pell and campus based grant payments are made in the Fall and Spring terms in each academic year. Any unused Pell entitlement may be used during the following summer term. If you do not attend the first semester, all awards will be canceled for the year. Students must notify the financial aid office in writing if they plan to return to TCC for the next semester to have the financial aid awards re-processed. Depending on availability of funds, campus-based aid may not be available to be re-awarded. Early registrants may be able to charge books to their Pell account after tuition/fees are deducted, generally two weeks prior to the begin date of classes. The balance of the awards, if any, is made by check approximately 8 weeks after the semester begins. These checks are mailed to the student's home address.
  2. Federal Work-Study Program payments are made by check twice per month to students employed in this program. Work-study is available for eligible students during all terms of the year, depending on fund availability. Scholarship payments are made by Tuition charges or by check, depending upon the desires of the recipient and/or the donor.
Refund Policy
College policy concerning refunds of tuition payment to students is contained in the Student Handbook section of the College Catalog. There is a 5% administrative fee that the school may keep for these refunds. Federal regulations require the college to refund financial aid programs on behalf of the student, depending on the withdrawal date from all classes.
Repayment Policy
Federal regulations require that repayments must be made by students in the event overpayments of grant funds occur. If, prior to the end of the drop/add period, a student:
  1. withdraws from college, all grant funds paid to the student must be repaid by the student.
  2. Drops to less than full-time or to less than the number of hours/or which tuition was paid, grant funds paid to the student which exceed the recalculated award must be repaid by the student.
Students may be required to repay funds at other times of withdrawal.
