The Associate of Applied Arts degree in Pre Art Therapy enables students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art or Psychology. However, the career pathway provides employment opportunities after the associate’s degree as well as upon com pletion of a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Students will additionally be prepared to work in the social and human service pathway as assistants in a wide range of settings including health and recreation aides in day care, residential and hospice programs, as well as teaching assistants in a variety of educational settings. Art therapy is a mental health profession that incorporates the creative process of art making to “ …explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem.”


The Associate of Applied Science degree in Graphic Design teaches students how to design for print and the web. They will learn the specialized computer and design skills needed to create logos, magazine layouts, brochures, web pages, or any of the limitless design tasks graphic artists are called upon to invent. Graphic designers create the visual world of print and electronic media—from logos to books, magazines to billboards, TV to the Internet. Every package and product, every ad, every sign, every web page, every DVD and every game was designed by someone schooled in the tools and techniques of Graphic Design. Graduates may seek employment as production artists, layout artists, entry-level graphic designers or in-house graphic artists.


The Associate of Applied Arts degree in Photography teaches students how to use the cutting edge technologies of our digital age. Students learn the classic skills of composition, lighting, camera technique, and video editing. They learn to tell stories, capture moments and to communicate through visual images. Graduates will be prepared to enter the Photography industry as commercial photographer's assistants, photo lab technicians, photography sales and service representatives, freelance photographers, or photography instructors at an arts center or museum.


The Associate of Applied Arts degree in Glass provides students with a well-rounded knowledge of traditinal glassblowing techniques and modern studio methods. Students develop glassworking skills by first observing demostrations and then by hands on practice in the studio. While not designed as a Transfer Program, courses from the glass specialization are transferable to corresponding programs at four-year colleges and universities.
